Pippi Hard Socking has been playing derby in Santa Cruz since the sport first reared its helmeted head. Her skill and snarl on the track is as inspirational to fellow skaters as her compassion and support off the track.
Pippi has been a valuable Boardwalk Bombshell for the past two seasons, and was proud captain of our Harbor Hellcats before that. She attacks her blocking with fury and her jamming with grace (and yes, more fury!) She has a deep love of derby and the derby community, which she spreads to the league’s newest members through her work on the Santa Cruz Derby Girls’ Recruiting Committee. While she’s loyal to her Bombshells, she really loves coaching the freshest of meat in the league’s bootcamps, and they couldn’t ask for a better introduction to derby life!
Pippi currently spends her days working for Front Street, Inc. assisting homeless veterans. Her own military background includes two years in the Honor Guard of the Cassion Platoon, a unit whose duties include escorting the remains of service members to their final resting place at Arlington Cemetery. We admire her work and dedication!
She’s crafty on and off the track – she’s a master of design and creativity. Hats, clothes, and her legendary bout makeup - she rocks it all!
